Sustainable Forestry of Northern Michigan Hardwoods
Buyers of Standing Timber & Saw Logs

Land for Sale/Lease

Hi Guys,

We just returned from the ranch a week ago and thought you might be interested in hearing about the up coming hunting season at Paradise Canyon Ranch. We have had a tremendous about rain this summer. In fact a couple of weeks ago we had 30 inches fall in a four day period. That is two years worth of precipitation.

I am attaching a picture of a current nutritional Lab Lab food plot. It doesn’t get much better than this. We have deep tilled three other food plots in hopes of banking water for future plantings our timing couldn’t have been better. We are spraying those fields to keep growth off as that growth uses the water that’s banked under the surface. We also are experimenting with Gallagher temporary fencing to keep the deer off the food plots until they get established. Most of you have seen the plastic netting around one of our fields that work very well. We are hoping this new design will be less work and cheaper.

We also have standing water in many of the dirt tanks throughout the ranch. We can tell that the food in the brush is plentiful as the protein pellets are being ignored in our established feeding areas. The timing of the rain coincides perfectly with buck’s bone growth. We have also continued to move unproductive stands in search for more sweet spots. So there will be new never hunted locations this fall. Nothing like new territory to get the imagination running wild. As in past years we hung 12 cameras so hope to have some good pictures next month.

We are planning on heading to the ranch Sept 1st through the 6th feel free to join us. The river is absolutely beautiful. Explore, scout, hunt, or just relax. Our area continues to be quiet and safe.  The cost is $300 for non hunters or if you want to do some bird hunting or predator chasing $500. This includes food, lodging, guns and transportation from Del Rio.

This is the irrigated food plot behind the casa at Paradise Ranch. Tecomate's Lab Lab was planted in May and with the abundant rain and irrigation the field grew tremendously. Our goal of providing a high quality summer protein source was acccomplished! We also planted 10 acres at the Lapalma site but did not high fence to keep the deer off while establishing the plants and they were ate into the ground! We have future plans for that.  The recent rainfall made our trip in a little more challenging than normal. We carried supplies, gear and us across the river via Horse and Dozer!    To try and describe the beauty of the ranch and river is daunting. We have enjoyed the San Rodrigeous river many times in the past. But this trip had to be the best, with temperatures in the high 90's, the water sky blue and privacy galore it was absolutly perfect.
Getting ready for the fall planting our first step is to kill the field to get rid of the competition. It also lessen the water draw as the weeds use some of the water banked beneath the surface that was captured during the heavy rains. We also sprayed the other field that we intend to plant next spring.
